Both these types of tiles can be unglazed or glazed. Glazed tiles have a matte, semi-gloss or high gloss finish that is applied to the surface at the time of manufacturing the tiles. 

Non porcelain tiles are one of the economical types of tile flooring. If we compare both, porcelain ceramic flooring is more expensive.  It is harder to work with.  But, its features are what it makes such expensive.

b) Stone Tiles: These are produced from materials that are stabbed, finished and cut to size. Usually granite, marble, limestone etc are the materials used in preparing stone tiles.  There are several varieties with unique characteristics. 

The characteristics depend on where and when the stone was unearthed.

Surface Tile Finishes:

Surface of the stone tile is usually natural, honed or polished. The finishing process starts once the stone is mined and then cut into a rocky slab. The rough slab face is then brightened with spiky pads.  First of all, extremely coarse pads are used and then it is finished with less coarse pads. 

The tiles are then cut to a size using stone fabricator.  The surface finish will finally depend on the place where you wish to use the stone tile. 

When the tiles are finished, these have a slippery surface. Apart from these, there are also other types that provide different appearances.  Each type of stone tile has its own advantage and disadvantage.
